Variety is the spice of life… That’s the kind of ‘throw caution to the wind’ mentality that got me into this mess in the first place. I thought a fresh start, some vodka, and swamp air would bring me back to my roots. They did, all right—my roots also got me pregnant and have me staring at this positive test like it's a Jenga puzzle piece. One wrong move and everything topples over. We love each other. We hate each other. But above all else—we’re now stuck with each other for life.

Savannah

My sister has got herself a bun in the oven and a sentence for eighteen to life. Instead of owning up, she's still letting her stubborn ass pride get in the way, and I'm done. I may not have it all together, but I’m taking matters into my own hands and forcing them to handle their business. I’m one hell of a puppet master too until my boyfriend drops the mother of all bombs on me. This should be our happily ever after, but life’s funny with curveballs like that. Especially ones you’ve managed to block out.

Sex had always been enjoyable, but since those two pink lines appeared, he'd become my favorite ride at the amusement park—and I had an unlimited wrist band.

With a lot of grunting and wheezing, because, let’s face it, these days I moved like a drunk hiker with their gear on backward, I wiggled out from beneath him. I tried to flip him over all sexy-like, but with all the exertion from just getting off the desk, I gasped for air like a chubby kid chasing the ice cream truck.

Oh, shit. Now, I wanted ice cream.

No! Sex. I wanted sex. A hard dick is better than soft serve.

Right? Right.
“Addie?”

“Hmmm?” Shit. How long did I zone out? Somehow, Zep had ended up flat on his back while I fantasized about molesting the Good Humor man.

Addie shook her head slowly. “Sometimes I wonder how you two ended up together. You’re polar opposites.”

I waved a hand in her direction. “You’re one to talk. It was simple with Pope. As soon as I met him, I knew I wanted him, and that was that.”

“But why? I mean, he’s a cop, and you haven’t always been the most law-abiding citizen. In fact, when you met Pope, you’d just stolen a van and a pig.”

I slapped my hand on the dashboard, making her jump. “Exactly! I’d been saying ‘fuck the police’ for years, so when the opportunity presented itself to literally fuck the police, I couldn’t, in good conscience, let it slip by, now could I?
